Classic Star Wars Matte Paintings
In "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi", C-3P0 and R2-D2 walk towards Jabba's
palace looming over the desert. That scene and many others from the classic
episodes employ a special-effects technique that has been in use for
decades called "matte painting". It involves a talented artist painting a
realistic background scene on portions of a pane of glass, which is then
superimposed on a filmed scene.
The images in our latest collection are actual matte paintings used in all
three classic episodes -- they'll look absolutely stunning on your
desktop! Highlights include Boba Fett's Slave 1, the Ewok Village, the
Imperial shuttle and three paintings of the Millennium Falcon.
